Mark in the Park (A Poem of Awakening)

A walk in the park
A cool Autumn breeze
My mind in the dark
Filled with dis-ease

Why does the past
Which should be left behind
Always loop and rewind
In the wheels of my mind?

And what about tomorrow
The anxiety of future lies
Why do I feel such sorrow
When all I see are blue skies?

And then a sudden shift
A sense of stillness clears the noise
An awakening as the fog lifts
To free my mind of all the voices

I tune in to the silence
Tune out the emotional violence
The silence between sound
The silence beneath sound
Lies a soothing frequency
A subtle space from anxiety
An inner peace washes over me
Like waves from the deep blue sea

The beauty and the clarity
The majesty of the still tree
The colors and the hues
Shine so brightly in the morning dew

My senses are crystal clear
Now that I am mindfully here
A minute to remember
A moment of surrender.
